Swiss Medical Device Company to Create More Than 200 Jobs in Maury County

(UCBJ) – Swiss medical device manufacturer Medacta International will invest $85 million to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Spring Hill while establishing a new U.S. manufacturing hub that is expected to create more than 200 jobs in Maury County.

The project will relocate the company’s U.S. headquarters from Franklin to Spring Hill and co-locate its new manufacturing operations on Jim Warren Road near Interstate 65 and Saturn Parkway. The expansion will be completed in multiple phases and is designed to strengthen Medacta’s global medical device supply chain and expand its operational footprint in the United States.

Founded in Castel San Pietro, Switzerland, Medacta specializes in the design, production and distribution of personalized solutions for joint replacement, sports medicine and spine surgery.

Gov. Bill Lee said the announcement reflects Tennessee’s continued success in attracting international investment.

“Tennessee continues to compete and win on a global scale, attracting world-class companies like Medacta that choose to grow their business here,” Lee said. “As the home of Medacta’s U.S. headquarters, our state is proud to support the company’s continued expansion in Middle Tennessee. These 200-plus new jobs reflect the confidence international companies have in Tennessee’s skilled workforce, strong business climate and commitment to long-term success.”

The expansion further strengthens Tennessee’s position in the healthcare and medical device sector. Switzerland ranks among the state’s top foreign direct investment partners with more than 40 Swiss companies operating in Tennessee, supporting more than 4,000 jobs and representing approximately $1.2 billion in capital investment.

Francesco Siccardi, CEO of Medacta, said the new campus will support the company’s long-term growth strategy in the United States.

“Medacta’s vision and commitment is to improve the care and well-being of orthopaedic and spine surgery patients,” Siccardi said. “Our differentiated innovations, products and solution offerings are targeted to improve patient outcomes and are part of Medacta’s success in delivering above-market growth over the past years. This new development project in Spring Hill will not only assist us in our further growth strategy but will also strengthen Medacta’s U.S. footprint to enable a healthy and active lifestyle for every patient in the U.S. We are delighted to have found this great location and intend to advance the project without delay.”
