Golf cart manufacturer to create 200 new jobs in Tennessee
MD Carts, LLC (MDC) officials announced today the company will invest more than $10 million to expand its presence in Northeast Tennessee.
MD Carts will locate a new manufacturing facility in Johnson City, which will house 200 new jobs upon completion of the project. The company will move into the former Q.E.P. building, once a Johnson City flooring plant.
“Johnson City and the State of Tennessee have been vital in LPI’s path of becoming the largest hot tub manufacturer in the USA. We are now looking forward to creating the same rapid growth in our new EV golf cart manufacturing business. The employee base and advantages Johnson City offers are second to none in our eyes, and we are thankful to be a part of it,” said David Hatley, CEO, MD Carts LLC.

The new location will significantly expand the company’s employment across both Washington and Sullivan Counties and will allow for larger production capacity of its current golf cart line. MD Carts was founded in Kingsport, Tennessee. The 200-job expansion will increase the company’s total employment to more than 250 in the next five years.
“Tennessee is leading the nation with one of the fastest growing economies thanks to companies like MD Carts that continue to place their trust in our state, our skilled workforce and sound business climate. I appreciate the leadership at MD Carts for their commitment to creating an additional 200 high-quality new jobs for the families across this region and look forward to the success that follows this project,” said Gov. Bill Lee.
