Retail giant Walmart announced today all hourly employees employed with the company for at least a year is eligible for a newly instated annual bonus program.
In Tennessee 20,000 associates will be able to take advantage.
“For Walmart to be the best place to shop, we also need it to be the best place to work. That idea is the North Star of our journey to build a better company for our associates,” said Walmart in a statement. “Whether we’re investing in compensation, learning and development, well-being, or resources for a simpler day at work, our commitment to associates is strong and our goal is simple: helping them live better at every stage of their careers.”
The bonus program is one of four ways Walmart is “investing in its people,” according to the retailer.
The others include:
- Launch ofAssociate to Technician program, a new program to help address the skilled trade labor shortage and create new career opportunities at Walmart. The program provides front-line associates with the training and pathways to move into higher-paying technician jobs in our stores and supply chain facilities.
- Doubling the number of skills certificates available through the Walmart-paid Live Better U (LBU) benefit. These certificates will help fast-track front-line associates into the 100,000 higher-paying and in-demand jobs at Walmart over the next three years.
- Starting a new Associate Bonusfor eligible full- and part-time store hourly associates that rewards long-term service- the longer an associate is with the company, the higher their bonus potential is, up to $1,000 a year.
- A new Total Pay & Benefits feature in the Me@Walmart app. This new feature gives store associates the opportunity to quickly and easily see their pay, 401k, Associate Stock Purchase Plan, benefits and more right in the palm of their hand.
“Today’s announcements mark the latest step in Walmart’s ongoing commitment to invest in its associates,” according to the company
Sam Walton, founder of the global icon, said it best when he said, “There’s absolutely no limit to what ordinary people can accomplish if they’re given the opportunity and encouragement to do their best.”
Walmart says the investments are a part of the company’s “people-led, tech-powered commitment” to associates.
“We believe in them and their potential,” says the company. “We know that when they’re given the right tools, opportunities for growth and investments in their personal well-being, they can accomplish more than they imagined personally and professionally.”
