During the execution of the search warrant detectives recovered burglary tools, counterfeit money, and multiple stolen items
The Sunoco Gas Station at 1200 Browns Mill Road in Cookeville was robbed of $11,000 Monday morning. The vandals also left $8,600 worth of damage in their wake, according to a release by the Cookeville Police Department (CPD).
“The business showed signs of forced entry along with evidence of vandalism and theft,” according to the CPD.
Suspects are in custody.
“Cookeville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to process the scene and quickly developed suspects, Trenton Troupe (20) and Mathew Norris (43), both of Cookeville,” according to the release. “In a collaborative effort to locate the suspects, patrol canvassed the area and located Troupe and Norris at Suburban Studios, located at 1814 Salem Road.”
CPD quickly obtained a search warrant.
“A search warrant was obtained to search their associated room and vehicles,” according to the release. “During the execution of the search warrant detectives recovered burglary tools, counterfeit money, and multiple stolen items including coins, identifications, documents, and multiple pieces of jewelry including several gold necklaces, diamond rings, and a Rolex watch all valued at approximately $27,000. The items recovered are believed to have been stolen from Cookeville, Overton County and Smithville areas.”
Troupe was charged with Burglary, Theft of Property, and Vandalism and is being held at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on a $58,000 bond. Norris was charged with Accessory After the Fact, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Theft of Property and was given a $28,000 bond.
