LIVINGSTON – A summer concert series set in downtown Livingston is gearing up for three upcoming shows, starting Friday, June 13, with headline performances by Sierra Hull, The Steel Drivers and Scott Miller.
The Livingston-Overton County Chamber of Commerce recently announced the schedule for this year’s Live in Livingston events, which began last year as a means to boost the town’s designation as the Home of Americana Music. Each concert will take place on Livingston’s historic downtown square on the second Friday of June, July and August.
Friday, June 13, the headliner is Byrdstown-born singer and songwriter Sierra Hull and the Highway 111 Band. Friday, July 11, will feature The Steel Drivers, whose bluegrass roots include threads of their own design, bringing together country, soul, and other contemporary influences for an unapologetic hybrid blend. And the Friday, Aug. 8, show will be capped by Scott Miller and Band. Each evening’s headliner will be recorded as part of the national Jammin’ at Hippie Jack’s public television series.
Music begins each night at 5:30 p.m. and runs till 9 p.m. Lawn chairs are encourage. And non-perishable food items and shoes will also be collected to raise awareness about hunger and poverty issues in the U.S. with partners such as Soles4Souls and the Vine Ridge Food Pantry.
