Numbers are on the heels of a December that saw total construction finish at $62.2 billion nationally
According to Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter, January had 24 permits for $5.5 million worth of construction. 16 of those were for new single-family residential homes.
Last year in January, the county had 22 permits for $3.9 million with 16 of those being new single-family homes.
“January permits generated $21,056 in fees which operates the Building Codes Department,” said Porter. “Remember these are numbers for Putnam County that do not include any of the four cities.”
These numbers are on the heels of a December that saw total construction finish at $62.2 billion nationally, according to reports. Spending was up 9.2% from Nov. 2024, but down 19,4% year-over-year. The last month of the year were weak and represented the slowest two-month period since late 2021.
“Total spending in 2024 amounted to $942.7 billion,” according to the report.” The fourth quarter of the year was underwhelming with total spending of just $202 billion, representing a decline of 18.5% from 4Q2023 spending.”
