Following the merger, Dr. James Cates and the Satellite Med providers will still provide service to the community

As reported earlier in the UCBJ, Interstate Health (IH) has agreed to purchase Cookeville-based urgent care and family medicine practice Satellite Med (SM) in Cookeville, effective June 9.

“We are thrilled to welcome Satellite Med to the Interstate Health network of clinics! Satellite Med has been serving the Cookeville community for 20 years. By working together, we have an opportunity to expand the services they offer the community, reach a new patient population of commercial truck drivers, and help make healthcare even more accessible,” said IH in a statement.

IH says the addition of the clinic, located off Exit 287 on Interstate 40, “expands Interstate Health’s growing presence in Tennessee.” In celebration of the merger and the company’s 20th anniversary, SM is holding a ribbon cutting event with the Cookeville–Putnam County Chamber of Commerce,

“You’re invited to join us for a special event celebrating Satellite Med’s 20th anniversary and the clinic’s exciting new chapter as part of Interstate Health,” according to a release by the Chamber.

Following the nmerger, Dr. James Cates and the SM providers will still provide service to the community. Dr. Cates “as well as Jeff Seraphine and the Interstate Health team, are eager to welcome you to a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception…,” according to the Chamber.

The event looks to shine a light on SM’s “bright future and expanded services with Interstate Health.” SM offers on-site laboratory, digital x-rays/CT scans, ultrasound, allergy testing, impact concussion testing, DOT drug screenings, medication dispensing and many more services.

“The clinic’s state-of-the-art facility embraces “a sincere commitment to quality patient care and has been serving the Cookeville community since 2006. Come celebrate this exciting new chapter and see what’s next for Satellite Med and Interstate Health,” according to the Chamber.

IH will expand service at the clinic, including accepting Medicare, Medicaid and more commercial insurance plans, beginning June 9.
