Family-owned cooperage that was established in 1912

“What a celebration at the Independent Stave Company (ISC) ribbon cutting today,” announced the Livingston-Overton County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber).

ISC, known as the Rickman Mill, is a family-owned cooperage that was established in 1912 to manufacture staves, barrels and oak alternatives for customers in more than 40 countries nationally. Recently, ISC and the Chamber held the company’s official ribbon-cutting at 3172 Rickman Road in Overton County where the company will invest $30 million and create 85 new jobs over the next five years.

35 are already employed at the Rickman location.

“Manufacturing investments like this strengthen our entire community and demonstrate Overton County’s appeal for major employers,” according to the Chamber.

The Chamber says the project would not have been possible without help.

“Thank you to Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Senator Ken Yager, State Representative Ed Butler and the General Assembly, along with our local officials, for their efforts in making this project a reality,” according to the Chamber.

Brad Boswell, CEO of Independent Stave Company, says the expansion is exciting.

“We are excited to expand our domestic stave mill operations. This new facility in Rickman, Tennessee, will allow us to increase our wood supply in support of our customers and the growth of the industry,” according to Boswell. “Rickman is an ideal location for our 11th stave mill with the available skilled workforce as well as the surrounding forests known for cooperage quality white oak.”

“Tennessee continues to be known as a state where new and existing businesses can thrive. Independent Stave Company’s new production facility in Rickman will bring valuable jobs to our community while also strengthening the local economy. I congratulate the company… and look forward to its bright future here in Overton County,” said Rep. Ed Butler of Rickman.
