Federal grant could fund new trails, maintenance and trailhead facilities
Both Fall Creek Falls (FCF) and Savage Gulf State Parks (SGSP) are set to hold public meetings on a proposed recreational trails program grant. The RTP program is a federally funded, state-administered grant program that provides grant funding for land acquisition for trails, non-routine trail maintenance, trail construction, trail rehabilitation, and trailhead support facilities.
SGSP will hold two public meetings in March, according to a release. One virtual and one in person, as will FCF to “seek input from the public before the park applies for a grant from the Recreational Trails Program.”
SGSP virtual meeting will be March 4 at 2 p.m., while the in-person meeting will be March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Beersheba Springs Community Center, 19224 TN-565.
According to the release, those interested may attend the meeting, and written comments can be submitted to Park Manager Aaron Reid via email at aaron.reid@tn.gov or by mailing to the park at P.O. Box 561 Beersheba Springs.
