The Cookeville store is one of 12 new locations opening this year, creating more than 100 jobs locally

According to Home Depot (THD) officials, the Cookeville store will open this fall at The Willows in Cookeville. The company told the Upper Cumberland Business Journal that officials are excited about the expansion despite what it calls “economic pressures” that are forcing many brick-and-mortar stores to close. The expanding physical presence is “to better serve the modern builder and the inspired homeowner,” according to THD.

The company aims to move inventory and expert support closer to the nation’s fastest-growing regions in hopes of “shortening the distance between a project’s start and its completion.”

“With each new store comes a critical boost to local economies, hundreds of new job opportunities with each store, and an answer to consumer demands for physical stores while integrating with proprietary AI tools,” the company told the UCBJ.

The Cookeville store is expected to bring with it over 100 new jobs.

“… And support thousands more, with every Home Depot job generating over four additional positions across the U.S.,” according to the company.

Nationally, new stores are a major part of the entire Home Depot ecosystem that contributes $60 billion in federal, state and local taxes, according to the company.

“We’re excited about all of the progress we’ve made in our stores. And our efforts are paying off. In 2025, our customer satisfaction scores increased every quarter, and our tenure with hourly associates is the highest it’s been since 2017,” said Ann-Marie Campbell, Senior Executive Vice President, The Home Depot.

Along with the Cookeville store and others in the fall, other 2026 The Home Depot Store Openings include:

  • Spring 2026: Buckeye, AZ; Leander, TX; Naples, FL
  • Summer 2026: Celina, TX; Dallas East, TX; Mission Valley, CA

This year, Home Depot will add 12 new stores across eight states, totaling 1.6 million square feet of retail space. Check back here for more updates as we inch closer to the opening.
