Fortis Institute at 1025 Hwy 111 in Cookeville, a leading post-secondary network of colleges and institutes, is hosting an open house to celebrate National Nurses Week (NNW) in 2025. National Nurses Week recognizes “the profound impact of the nursing profession on health care and honors the contributions of nurses throughout history,” according to a release by Fortis.

The event begins May 6 and will feature a cookout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an open house from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Fortis Institute in Cookeville Campus President James Williamson, Nursing Program Dean Kayla McMillan and local radio personalities welcoming prospective students for a campus-wide cookout and an open house,” according to a release by the company.

Visitors can participate in hands-on activities like practicing chest compressions on simulation mannequins and exploring various lab activities that showcase the innovative learning environment. NNW concludes each year May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is widely regarded as the “mother of modern nursing.”
