FedEx officials said they chose the site because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce

Cookeville – The FedEx Corp. (FedEx) distribution facility located at 4676 Tennessee Avenue in Cookeville will be operational next week, FedEx officials have informed the Upper Cumberland Business Journal (UCBJ).

“The new facility will optimize service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network and employ a mix of full and part-time team members,” said David Westrick, media relations with FedEx. “The company also will contract with local service provider businesses for package pickup and delivery services.”

FedEx officials said they chose the site because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees. The facility is 251,000-square-feet, will deliver both e-commerce orders and supplier shipments and looks to provide approximately 250 jobs.

Groundbreaking was in April 2022. The project was developed by The Westmoreland Company, Inc., with the facility itself designed by Castles Design Group, PLLC and construction performed by T.W. Frierson.

“An investment in Putnam County is an investment in growth,” said Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter. “The proximity to both HWY 111, as well as I-40 makes this project a no-brainer for the shipping industry. The location combined with the workforce in Putnam County will bring success for all parties involved.”
