There will be a diabetes educator and clinical pharmacist on-site
Cookeville – Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is reopening the Endocrinology and Diabetes Education office starting Nov. 1, 2023, at 127 N. Oak Avenue, Suite A, in Cookeville.
“Endocrinology and Diabetes Education is one of the biggest needs in our community. We are thrilled to reopen the service and serve the people of the Upper Cumberland region,” said Buffy Key, CEO of Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Shanti Pittampalli and Dr. Shirisha Vallepu are the two new endocrinologists joining CRMC and leading the practice to serve patients starting Nov. 1. There will also be a diabetes educator and clinical pharmacist on-site to help educate and assist patients with their questions regarding the medication and devices they use.
“We have a wonderful team in place to help diabetics in our area and patients needing an endocrinologist,” said Key. “We expect this office to be in high demand as this patient population increases, but we also hope to see more prevention come out of this clinic. The diabetes educator is there to help patients manage their diabetes, but with the hope we can get them off their medication and into remission, if you will. In the past, we have seen type two diabetics change their lifestyle because of the diabetes education program. Patients come off insulin or their diabetic medication and go into remission, giving them a better quality of life. We want our community to be as healthy as possible, so we look forward to the center opening back up.”
