County residential construction continues boom

PUTNAM COUNTY – Residential construction in Putnam County continues to boom with 23 residential permits totaling $4.59 million issued in March, narrowly beating out September’s 22 permits, making it the busiest month for housing starts this fiscal year.

A total of 31 permits were issued in March for a total of just over $5 million in new construction.

The county is still on pace to set a record for new construction for the fiscal year.  To date, a total of 222 permits have been issued in the first nine months for $30 million with 130 of those being for new single-family residential homes.

These numbers are only for the rural areas of Putnam County and do not include any construction within the Algood, Baxter, Cookeville or Monterey corporate limits.
