Appointment was approved unanimously

This afternoon, the Cookeville City Council approved the appointment of Justin Cumby, of Cumby Construction, LLC fame, to the CRMC board of trustees.

“We discussed with him that he will not be able to do any bids on any hospital projects with him being a board and he is understanding and aware of that,” said Cookeville Mayor, and CRMC board member, Laurin Wheaton.

Dr. Carl Owens has retired but will serve out his final two years on the board.

“I just want to take this moment to thank Mr. Owens for his service on the hospital board while he was there,” said councilman Erik Walker. “I know he has got a lot of important things in other states that takes a lot of his time and attention as well. So, we do appreciate his service while he served.”

The appointment was approved unanimously. As a city owned entity, CRMC’s budget, and a CRMC board member appointment, must be approved by the Cookeville City Council.

In other business, the council abolished the city’s human resource department in favor of a new division entitled “The Division of Human Resources.”
