Cookeville physician elected to TMA Board of Trustees

NASHVILLE – Cookeville physician James Cates, MD, was selected as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees by the Tennessee Medical Association during its recent Board of Trustees meeting. The entire slate of new officers for the 2020-2021 term is as follows:

Timothy Wilson, MD, of Knoxville, was elected Board of Trustees chair. Wilson is a plastic surgeon at East Tennessee Plastic Surgery, is president of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, and serves as chief of staff at Parkwest Medical Center, a Covenant Health hospital, also in Knoxville.

James Cates, MD, of Cookeville, was selected as vice chair of the Board of Trustees. Cates is owner of Satellite Med in Cookeville. He specializes in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine and remains on the courtesy staff at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

John McCarley, MD, of Chattanooga, was reelected as Secretary Treasurer. McCarley is a nephrologist with Nephrology Associates in Chattanooga and is affiliated with numerous hospitals in the Chattanooga area including Parkridge Medical Center, CHI Memorial Hospital, Erlanger Medical Center and University of Tennessee Medical Center. He has served as TMA secretary treasurer for the last two years.
