Public nominations open May 15 for a local hero to receive complimentary LASIK surgery

Cookeville Eye Specialists is launching its LASIK for Heroes campaign, a community initiative recognizing the everyday heroes who help make the region a safer, stronger place to live. Starting May 15, community members can nominate one deserving local hero for the opportunity to receive a free LASIK procedure, performed by Dr. Brittany DeNaro, a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained anterior segment specialist.

“Cookeville is a place defined by its people — individuals who step up every day to serve, protect and uplift their neighbors,” said Dr. DeNaro. “I’m honored to use my skills to give back to someone who gives so much to others.”

From May 15 through June 30, the public is encouraged to nominate teachers, firefighters, police officers, EMTs and other local heroes who go above and beyond in their service to others. Once the nomination period closes, one nominee will be selected to receive complimentary LASIK surgery.

The winner will be announced July 7.
