Knoxville – SmartBank recently announced the promotion of Cynthia Cain to Executive Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer.
As Executive Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, Cain will continue to oversee the accounting and finance department at SmartBank and play a key role in financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting. In this role, Cynthia strengthens the bank’s ability to accurately develop strategic plans and improve overall function to support SmartBank’s growth and other key initiatives. Her previous role as Executive Vice President, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis provided her with the foundation needed in her new position.

Cain has more than 27 years of experience in accounting, financial operations, business analysis, process improvement and program implementation. She served as SVP in the accounting department at South State Bank in Columbia, SC before joining the SmartBank team in 2019. Cain had extensive involvement with accounting operations, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, stress testing and strategic planning at South State, which have contributed to her growth and leadership within the SmartBank system.

Cain received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Murray State University in 1995. She is an advocate and supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association. SmartBank is delighted to work with her and assist in her career development.
