Building will soon be transformed into Downtown Cookeville’s only luxury blowout bar
The building that once housed Borden Jewelry at 136 East Broad Street in Cookeville will soon be given a new lease on life. Emily Blair Bochette and her husband, Brett, have purchased the building and plan to blow it out, so to speak.
“I am beyond excited to share the biggest milestone of my career—purchasing the iconic Borden Jewelry building in the heart of downtown Cookeville! This historic gem will soon be transformed into Downtown Cookeville’s only luxury blowout bar with premium salon suites—a space as timeless and iconic as the building itself,” Bochette’s said in a statement.

New tenant – The old Borden’s Jewelry building in Cookeville has new tenants.
Borden Jewelry, renowned for its beautiful jewelry, exceptional customer service and stunning Christmas displays, was established in 1900 and earned the title of “Cookeville’s Premier Jeweler” before it permanently closed Aug. 31, 2024. This marked the end of an era in Putnam County.
The new business will be called Poppy and Pearl, and Bochette says she is honored to follow in the footsteps of the building’s legendary former tenants.
“A heartfelt thank you to Fay Borden, who has been an absolute gem throughout this journey. It’s an honor to breathe new life into such a cherished piece of our city’s history while introducing a high-end, one-of-a-kind beauty experience like Cookeville has never seen,” said Bochette.
According to Bochette, the journey would not have been possible without support.
“I also want to take a moment to thank my incredible family and friends who have supported me every step of the way. Your encouragement, love, and belief in this dream mean more than words can say. I couldn’t have done this without you! Brett & I are beyond thrilled for this journey,” she said..
No official opening date has been announced, but remodeling will begin soon. Check back for updates.
