Associates or their dependents who are attending college are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship

Cookeville – Averitt Express recently hosted its annual Scott Wolf Memorial Averitt Golf Open and the event produced a record donation to Averitt’s scholarship program that benefits associates and their families.

More than 130 associates came to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle Golf Club in Cookeville for the 11th edition of the tournament, which is held in memory of Scott Wolf, who was Averitt’s vice president of corporate services until his passing in 2012. Through the putting contest that is part of the tournament, associates raised $8,500 for the Scott Wolf Memorial Scholarship. Additionally, Averitt donated $17,000 in recognition of associates’ participation in and volunteering for the event, bringing the total contribution to a record $25,500.

“Scott loved his fellow Averitt associates, and he loved the company,” said Averitt Vice President of Pricing & Traffic Mark Davis, who was a close friend of Wolf. “This tournament helps people go to college and further their education, and that means so much. Scott really would have been humbled to see everyone out there and the impact they’re making.”

Each year, associates or their dependents who are attending college are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Since the program began, 83 students from 13 states have benefited from the scholarship.
