Cookeville – Averitt, a leading transportation and logistics company based in Cookeville, is included in Forbes Magazine’s list of America’s Best-in-State Employers for 2023.
Receiving the award in both Tennessee and North Carolina, Averitt says its commitment to people allows for continued success.

Forbes presented the award in partnership with Statista, Inc., a renowned statistics portal and industry ranker, after the duo surveyed 70,000 workers at companies with a minimum of 500 employees across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Participants recommended their employers to others and evaluated various aspects, including working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development and overall company image.
“Averitt stood out in this rigorous, employee-based evaluation, showcasing the company’s commitment to sustaining a positive work environment for its employees,” according to a release. “The recognition is a testament to Averitt’s dedication to fostering a workplace that values diversity, offers competitive compensation packages, and provides opportunities for professional growth and development. Sixteen percent of associates have dedicated over two decades to the company, exemplifying the enduring commitment and loyalty within the organization.”
Averitt’s commitment to creating a positive work environment played a “pivotal role” in earning the recognition. According to the release, several recently implemented initiatives improves work life and added tangible value to employees.
