Program Highlights Organization’s Long-Term Employment Efforts
(UCBJ) – America Works has launched its 250 Hires Initiative, a national workforce campaign designed to place 250 individuals into jobs as part of the nation’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
The New York-based workforce development organization said the initiative highlights its efforts to connect job seekers with long-term employment opportunities while showcasing its employment placement model.
According to America Works, the organization has served more than 30 million clients during its more than 40 years of operation.
“For more than four decades, we’ve proven that employment is the most effective pathway to independence,” said Dr. Lee Bowes, Co-Founder and CEO of America Works. “This initiative reflects both our legacy and our forward-looking commitment to helping individuals succeed in today’s evolving workforce.”
America Works provides employment services through programs focused on:
- welfare recipients
- individuals with disabilities
- veterans
- people reentering the workforce after incarceration
- those experiencing homelessness
The organization said its performance-based model has been evaluated by government agencies and independent research organizations.
“This milestone is deeply personal for our team and the communities we serve,” said Marsha Netus, Vice President and Regional Director of America Works of Maryland and Washington, D.C. “We have seen firsthand how access to employment can profoundly transform lives. The 250 Hires Initiative brings that impact to life in a way that is both meaningful and measurable.”
With the country celebrating its 250th anniversary, America Works says the campaign reflects its continued focus on expanding workforce opportunities nationwide.
