Postal rates to increase in August

Under the current pricing model and the proposed rate change, the Postal Service still has some of the lowest letter-mail postage rates in the industrialized world and continues to offer a great value in shipping.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will raise their rates in August. The changes will take effect Aug. 29 and will be the second increase in rates in 2021.  

Changes include:

Stamp – from 55¢ to 58¢

Metered mail (1 oz.) – from 51¢ to 53¢

Domestic postcards – from 36¢ to 40¢

Flat single piece – from $1.00 to $1.16

Presort letters – from 40.4¢ to 43.3¢

Money orders – from $1.30 to $1.45

Return receipt – from $2.85 to $3.05

Certified mail – from $3.60 to $3.75

Forever stamps can be purchased prior to Aug. 29 at 55¢ and used at any time in the future.
