COOKEVILLE – The concerns of many local residents regarding the potential increase in accidents on South Willow Avenue due to the recent opening of the new Starbucks appear to have been misplaced.

“I am happy to report that zero crashes have occurred at the new Starbucks’ location on South Willow from May 1 to Aug. 1, 2021, according to our crash database,” said Sheila Holloway Julian, Cookeville Police Department Crime Analyst, in an email to the UCBJ.

Many residents hoped that the opening of the new location would help with the lines at the Starbucks location on Interstate Drive that often tend to back out onto Interstate Drive.

“It has helped a little bit,” said a Starbucks associate who preferred to remain unnamed. “There are still a few times when it definitely backs up, but that’s usually around big events. That happened this weekend with the fair, but I would say that it has definitely helped.”
