The organization is accepting donations of all sizes
Purchasing essential back-to-school supplies for their children is a heavy financial burden for many families throughout Middle Tennessee.
This year, the Youth Villages Backpack Heroes campaign needs help to provide backpacks, school supplies, and other essentials to more than 1,800 youth in the organization’s programs. The organization is accepting donations of all sizes, from one pack of pencils to multiple fully stuffed backpacks, through July 30. Monetary donations will help fund laptops for young adults starting their secondary education.
“Backpack Heroes helped take all the stress, time and money we would have spent on school supply shopping and put that toward getting to know the kids and helping them acclimate to a new home and school,” said Aaron Lutz, a foster parent with Youth Villages. “It makes a big difference for their school experience to know they are going to have everything they need and not stand out as different among their classmates.”
Students from prekindergarten through college can start the school year with confidence, knowing they have everything they need to focus on academics and friendship.
Youth Villages Middle Tennessee has offices in Cookeville, Clarksville, Columbia, Dickson and Nashville serving the region’s metro and rural communities. In addition to foster care, the organization provides Intercept, intensive in-home services for children who are at risk of being removed from the home and LifeSet, a program supporting youth aging out of the foster care system and helping them navigate adulthood.
