WCTE’s annual Haunted Half Marathon goes virtual

COOKEVILLE – Registration is open for WCTE’s annual Haunted Half Marathon (HHM), which will be conducted virtually this year. WCTE has partnered with the “It’s Your Race App” to help provide a safe alternative to an in-person running event.

With the “It’s Your Race App,” registered runners can run any day or time from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31. Participants are still able to register as a three-person relay team or as an individual runner. Each registered runner gets a finisher’s medal. Race items can be picked up from Express Footwear in Cookeville on Oct. 16, 23, 30 and Nov. 6 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Participants also receive a 20% off merchandise discount at Express Footwear on the day they come in to pick up their Haunted Half medals and shirts. To register and for more information, visit wcte.org/hauntedhalf.

While a virtual race is not ideal, it does give us a reason to keep training, to set personal goals and run safely in a crowd-free environment of your choice.

“I am so proud of our HHM team and the many runners who participate in this incredible event for our community and WCTE,” said WCTE CEO Becky Magura. “This year is different, but equally exciting because you can run anywhere and anytime in the month of October. I am participating in a relay team for the first time. If I can do it…you can too, so run or walk WCTE’s Haunted Half Marathon!”

All race proceeds from the Haunted Half fundraiser benefit WCTE’s educational and local programming. This year is the most convenient year so far for our dedicated runners. Registration costs $50 for an individual and $135 per team of 3. Registration is open until October 31. The race is 13.1 miles or 4.4 for a relay team. The “It’s Your Race App” allows the runner to do their race at their most convenient time and choose their own route. You are even able to invite friends and family from out of town to join in your relay team. The race must be completed by October 31.
