Cookeville Company Continues Legacy Started By Charles And Beatrice Vaughn In 1946
(UCBJ) – Vaughn’s Monument Works, Inc. (VMW), a family-owned and operated business, has provided custom memorial services and handcrafted monuments since 1946 and recently celebrated 80 years with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
Charles and Beatrice Vaughn founded the company shortly after Charles’ service in the Army Air Forces following World War II, according to the Chamber.
“Vaughn’s Monument Works has been a valued part of the Cookeville community for 80 years, providing families with craftsmanship, compassion and lasting memorials,” according to the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
David Vaughn, alongside his niece and nephew, Suzi and Eric, continues ownership as the third generation of VMW. The company has operated from its current location since 1971.
VMW specializes in:
- custom headstones
- monuments
- urns
- cremation monuments
- benches
- vases
- pet memorials
The Chamber says each piece is handcrafted to create a meaningful, unique tribute.
“Eight decades of serving families through some of life’s most meaningful moments is an incredible milestone,” according to the Chamber.
