Shelving manufacturer to invest nearly $1 million in Putnam County, expansion to create more than 50 manufacturing jobs
Cookeville – US Pillars LLC will invest $981,000 to expand manufacturing operations at its headquarters in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Founded in 2015, US Pillars is a manufacturer of display shelving, tables, display cabinets, bookcases, work counters, gondolas and more.
“It is a privilege to be able to continue and expand the offering of this beautiful product nationally and to grow the craftsmanship capabilities here in the Upper Cumberland. Manufacturing is fundamental to a healthy economy, and we appreciate the support that Tennessee is providing in helping to make this possible,” said Dave Uhrik, general manager, US Pillars.
US Pillars will create 56 new jobs as the company acquires a wood door product line from Hörmann, a German, family-owned manufacturer headquartered in Sparta.
“Over the course of the last 88 years and four generations, Hörmann has built a reputation as a champion of family-owned businesses, large and small. In both our customer and our supply chain networks, we have sought out opportunities to build relationships with companies that align with our core values. US Pillars is an excellent example of the type of partner we seek, and we’re excited to work with them to design, build and distribute fine handcrafted wood doors though our existing network of sales centers. This partnership is a great win for both companies, the Upper Cumberland and the State of Tennessee,” said Camron Rudd, chief operating officer, Hörmann North America.
The acquisition of the wood garage door product line will not only greatly expand US Pillars’ manufacturing capabilities and overall facility footprint with these door panels, but it will also strengthen its business partnership with Hörmann.
“It’s a great story of how Tennessee helped Hörmann locate here and how Hörmann is in turn using their influence to strengthen and grow another Tennessee-based company,” said Lisa Uhrik, co-owner, US Pillars. “Our company, US Pillars, was formed for the very purpose of economic development through manufacturing with makers who find great fulfillment in making shelves for book spaces. We relocated an existing company, Franklin Fixtures, from Cape Cod to Cookeville in 2015. Now, with the faith of Hörmann, US Pillars is expanding with these garage doors, a market that Hörmann plans to expand further with this new location that is more favorable for East Coast and Southeast Coast customers.”
Hörmann is one of the world’s leading garage door and construction component manufacturers. In 2020, the company completed construction of its 325,000-square-foot state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Sparta, Tennessee, which houses its North American headquarters and operations of both sectional and high-performance door product lines.
“Tennessee is a pro-business state where companies and their employees can thrive. This expansion will bring even more great jobs to our community while further strengthening the local economy. I congratulate US Pillars on its success and look forward to the company’s continued growth in Cookeville,” said Rep. Ryan Williams (R-Cookeville).
