Both manufacturing and services increased

According to reports, U.S. business activity picked up in August.

Manufacturing expanded faster than it has since 2022 due to strengthening demand, according to S&P Global. The number increased to 55.4 in August from 55.1 in July.

That is the highest level since December.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion in the private sector, according to reports. Both manufacturing and services increased, and job creation reached one of the highest rates in recent memory. Over the past three years, companies reported the largest buildup in uncompleted work since May 2022.

The context: Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence said that the data are consistent with the economy expanding at a 2.5% annualized rate, up from the average 1.3% expansion seen over the first two quarters of the year.

In America, small business numbers have increased, with many small-business owners showing optimism in the market. Small businesses constitute 99.9% of all US enterprises. Small businesses represent over 1.5 million jobs annually in the U.S. with the global market for small businesses reaching $4.985B by 2032.
