Clay County still sits at highest unemployment number in region, but has shown improvement

There wasn’t much change in the Upper Cumberland’s Unemployment numbers for August, but the number did improve slightly across the board.

Warren County dropped from 4.3% to 4.1% last month. Elsewhere in the Upper Cumberland, DeKalb dropped to 4.3% from 4.4% in June, while Cannon County still sits at 3.2%, and Clay decreased from 5.3% to 4.4% in August, a significant improvement for a county that has consistently struggled.

Fentress County landed at 3.7%. Jackson sat at 3.9, down from 4.4% in July while Macon County landed at 3.1%. Overton County stands at 3.5%, and Putnam County’s number increased slightly to 3.6%.

Smith landed at 3% while Van Buren sits at a 4.2%, slightly up from 4.1% in July. Warren County landed at 4.1%. White County sits at 3.9% while Pickett dropped to 3.6%, down from 4% and Cumberland sits at 4%.
