UCHRA offering senior employment program

COOKEVILLE – The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) is inviting anyone 55 years or older, who meets the eligibility guidelines, to be a part of its Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).

This program provides on-the-job training for older individuals seeking gainful employment in the Upper Cumberland region. This training is 20 hours per week at the current minimum wage with government and non-profit agencies.

They provide assessment and testing services to determine present skill levels and for the types of occupations individuals would like to train for. The group also conducts meetings to teach individuals the best methods for finding, applying, interviewing, getting, and keeping the right job.

The SCSEP can also refer individuals to the American Job Center for basic computer training as well as other employment and training programs. For questions or to determine eligibility, please call (931) 520-9624 or visit the UCHRA Central Office located at 580 S. Jefferson Ave., Suite B.
