UCB Blog: Sutton Ole Time Music Hour to celebrate 400th show

GRANVILLE – A popular syndicated radio show performed live right in the Upper Cumberland is celebrating a major milestone later this month.

The Sutton Ole Time Music Hour, held since 2008 at the circa-1880 T.B. Sutton General Store in Granville, will celebrate its 400th performance at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.

The show, which was founded by Sam Stout, began April 5, 2008 and has listeners in 50 states and 36 countries – and serves as a tourism driver for this small Jackson County town. The show is syndicated on 42 radio and streaming stations and listenership is now more than 3 million. Stout still serves as host and bluegrass performer.

The Sutton Ole Time Music Hour is held each Saturday night year round, and features a different bluegrass band each week. Muddy Waters Bluegrass Band will perform the anniversary show. Dinner is included in the performance. It’s served at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Live radio taping begins at 7 p.m.

Additional performers in 2016 include Coed of the Hills (Jan. 23), Avery Trace & Company (Jan. 30), Bluegrass Solutions (Feb. 6), Valley Grass (Feb. 13), Hamilton County Ramblers (Feb. 20), and The Davenport Brothers (Feb. 27).
