UCB Brief: Haslam to ceremoniously sign “Tennessee Promise” in Cookeville Tuesday

COOKEVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will hold a ceremonial bill signing of the Tennessee Promise legislation in Cookeville on Tuesday. The signing will take place at Tutco Inc., located at 500 Gould Drive, at 10:30 a.m.

Halsam is holding six other ceremonial signings for the Tennessee Promise across the state this week, including in Covington, Blountville and Knoxville. The Cookeville stop is the first on his agenda.

Tennessee Promise offers free community college opportunities to every student in the state who graduates high school. It’s linked with the governor’s “Drive to 55” initiative, which aims to increase the number of graduates who go on to earn a post-secondary degree.
