UC Home & Garden Show March 1-3

Serena Wells will teach a workshop Sunday, March 3 at 1:00 PM. Visitors will learn to build a quick, easy and low-cost portable cold frame to start plants early for the spring growing season.

COOKEVILLE – Find inspiration to transform your home for spring at the Upper Cumberland Home & Garden Show held March 1-3 at the Hyder Burks Pavilion in Cookeville. Attendees will see the latest trends for home building, remodeling, decorating, and landscaping with exhibits featuring products and services from the UC and beyond.

If you are shopping for cabinets, furniture, accessories, lawn mowers, lighting, doors, plants, appliances, or even a complete new home, you will find a wide selection at this event. For almost 50 years, the Home Builders Association of the Upper Cumberland has sponsored the Home & Garden Show, bringing the best values together under one roof.  With spring on the way, this is the perfect time to get a jumpstart on projects that will enhance your home, garden and outdoor living spaces.

New this year is the “Painting Patch” where you can paint your own flower pot, plant ID marker, bird house, or other exciting art projects.  Materials and easy instructions will be provided by The Art Jam.

The Cooking Stage is a popular attraction in the “Gourmet Gallery” of the show, where local and regional celebrities will demonstrate recipes and share tips for entertaining and healthy living.  Presenters include restaurant chefs, Cookbook authors, Food Truck owners, caterers, and more. In addition to the Cooking Stage, the Gourmet Gallery features exhibits of cabinetry, cookware, candles, specialty foods, and other items for the “Heart of the Home.”

If you want to start growing plants for the upcoming season, you can learn to build a quick, easy and low-cost portable cold frame at the DIY workshop Sunday afternoon, March 3 at 1:00 at the event.  Utilizing the heat from the sun in a tiny “greenhouse” built from an old window, you can start plants earlier and extend the season in the fall.

In the Barn Sale area, great home decor from shabby chic to treasured antiques will be featured allowing visitors to find that perfect piece to accent their home.

Another highlight of the show will be the UC Tourism “Stay and Play” Travel Expo with great ideas for vacations or day trips that are within a short drive from home. Information on the UC’s cultural, historic and scenic attractions, as well as its outdoor recreational opportunities and lodging options will be available in the Travel Expo area of the show.

Admission is only $5, with an Opening Night Special “Two-for-1” price on Friday night, March 1.  Event hours are Friday 4-8 PM, Saturday 9 AM – 6 PM, and Sunday Noon – 4 PM. Sunday will be “Deal Day,” when several exhibitors will offer special deals that are available exclusively on Sunday afternoon.
