The Backdoor Playhouse presents ‘The Fantasticks’

COOKEVILLE – The Tech Players presents “The Fantasticks,” directed by Mark Harry Creter, at the Backdoor Playhouse beginning Thursday, Nov. 3 through Saturday, Nov. 14.

“The Fantasticks” is the longest-running musical in the world. At the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.

“The Fantasticks” musical is based on a book and lyrics by Tom Jones, with music by Harvey Schmidt and music direction by Mendy Richards.

There will be nightly performances on Nov. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12 and 13, at 8 p.m.  There will also be a Nov. 11 performance at 10 p.m. and an afternoon performance on Nov. 13 at 2 p.m.

This is the sixty-seventh season Tennessee Tech’s English department has presented the Tech Players in the Backdoor Playhouse.

The Backdoor Playhouse is located on the first floor of the Jere Whitson Building, 805 Quadrangle, Cookeville.
