Tennessee Tech’s College Town Weekends kicks off Feb. 11

COOKEVILLE – Tennessee Tech University promotes its next College Town Weekend starting Friday, Feb. 11.

In an effort to engage students in on-and-off-campus activities, student affairs staff at Tech curates event listings for College Town Weekends and makes the schedule of events readily available for any students interested in participating.

The first event on Feb. 11, is Virtual Paint and Post with Patricia Case. This event is online via Zoom. Participants can pick up painting kits prior to the event in the Roaden University Center’s first floor lobby either Thursday, Feb. 10, from 11a.m.-1 p.m. or Friday, Feb. 11, from 4-5 p.m.

Remaining events below will be held Saturday, Feb. 12.

Tech’s Eagles Outdoors Waterfall Trip starts at 10 a.m. Those going on the trip will meet at the Burnett Fitness Center.

Cupid’s Chase, a 5K race benefitting Community Options, starts at 10a.m. The race begins at Derryberry Hall and costs $35. Preregister at http://www.cupidschase.org/. Community Options develops housing and employment supports for individuals with developmental disabilities, severe physical and cognitive disabilities and traumatic brain injury.

The Cookeville Depot Museum is hosting the WestSide Scavenger Hunt from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. It’s a free event open to all who enjoy exploring historic locations in the WestSide District. Entry forms with tiny picture clues may be picked up at the Cookeville Depot Museum, 116 W. Broad St. The goal is to find the pictured objects in and around participating WestSide businesses and replicate each image with a cell phone camera. Completed forms will be entered in a drawing for a prize basket filled with items from sponsoring businesses.

The Appalachian Center for Craft will hold a Valentine’s Day themed workshop at 1 p.m. focusing on creating glass flowers. Register at: https://www.tntech.edu/fine-arts/craftcenter/workshops/fall-spring/index.php
