This beautiful painting by Meemi Liu (Cheekwood Pumpkins, Oil on Canvas, 36 X 48 in) is among the incredible auction items available for purchase at this year’s Bacchanal event.

Cookeville Tennessee Tech University’s School of Art, Craft & Design proudly presents the 25th Annual Bacchanal on Sunday Oct. 23 at Spankies Restaurant.  After a two-year hiatus,the school ask that you join them for a festival of food, fun and fine art benefiting student scholarships.  Attendees will enjoy live music, food and drink beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the live auction of artworks beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The auction includes a wide variety of donated works from renowned national and local artists, Tennessee Tech alumni, accomplished faculty members, artists in residence and students representing all concentrations offered by the School of Art, Craft & Design: Art Education, Clay, Digital Design, Fibers, Glass, Metals, Painting and Wood.

All proceeds contribute to an endowment that funds the Bacchanal Scholarships for students of the School of Art, Craft & Design.  Students have the opportunity to develop creative potential, learn skills and design processes, acquire cultural knowledge and develop critical faculties through visual art experiences.  Since Bacchanal began, over 120 students have received Bacchanal Scholarships totaling more than $150,000.  This year ten talented students were awarded this competitive scholarship.

Every year, attendees are delighted by a generous buffet prepared by Spankies Restaurant, refreshing beer provided by Budweiser of Cookeville and a variety of fine wines contributed by Empire Distributors of Tennessee.  “Bacchanal represents the generosity of all involved and this event has enjoyed the support of the entire Tennessee Tech and Upper Cumberland community for the past 25 years,” says Bevin Butler, the event coordinator.  “We hope to see it continue for another 25 years.”
