19 people reported unaccounted for
The Accurate Energetic Systems plant on the Hickman County/Humphreys County line near Bucksnort has exploded and multiple people have died, according to reports. 19 people are also unaccounted for following the blast at the explosives manufacturer, which happened this morning before 8 a.m.
The Hickman County Sheriff’s Office has urged the public to stay away from the area. According to sources, the blast happened near shift change. That change would have allowed more people to be in the area at the time of the explosion.

Officials said that "multiple" people were dead after a massive explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems near Bucksnort, located about 50 miles west of Nashville, just before 8 a.m. local time.
"We do have some folks, we can confirm that we do have some that are deceased," Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis told reporters at a news conference.
Lobelville (near the site) residents felt their homes shake so much that Gentry Stover was awakened from his sleep.
“I thought the house had collapsed with me inside of it,” he told The Associated Press. “I live very close to Accurate and I realized about 30 seconds after I woke up that it had to have been that.”
TEMA is supporting local officials in Hickman and Humphreys counties and have deployed District Coordinators to support local response efforts, according to reports.
AES was established in 1980 and is “dedicated to the development, manufacture, handling and storage of high-quality energetic products utilized in both defense and commercial markets.”
