TDOT coming to Sparta for input on 25-year transportation plan

SPARTA – The Sparta–White County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to bring a public survey forum to White County in an effort to gather data for the Tennessee long-range transportation plan.

The event will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in the third floor courtroom at the White County Courthouse, 1 E. Bockman Way.

TDOT is creating a new long-term vision for transportation in Tennessee and public input is needed. This 25-year long-range transportation plan (LRTP) provides the foundation for prioritizing transportation investments across the state.

In response to the projected growth and demand, TDOT welcomes input in the development of the LRTP. The plan will take a look at changes in population, demographics, the economy, technology, land use, departmental policies and other variables to develop a data-driven roadmap to guide TDOT efforts over the next 25 years.

A major outcome of this two-year comprehensive effort is a mid-term, 10-year strategic investment program. The intent of the 10-year strategic investment program is to capture the insights gained during the development of the 25-year long-range transportation plan to concurrently develop a project program investment plan that is fiscally constrained that can be implemented over a 10-year horizon.

The RSVP deadline is noon, Wednesday, Aug. 13, and spots can be reserved by calling the chamber office at (931) 836-3552.
