FAIRFIELD GLADE – For Upper Cumberland residents interested in vacationing a little closer to home, an upcoming exposition will help highlight some of the “breathtaking destinations, unforgettable attractions and events” on the Cumberland Plateau.
The annual Staycation Expo, held in Fairfield Glade, is scheduled for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 25. The free event promises to offer some fresh ideas for vacations in your own backyard.
Ashley Allen DeRossett, vice president, Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, which is helping organize the event, said they currently have 20 vendors committed; more are being recruited. They range from realtors to tourist attractions.
Tourism is a major economic driver in the state and region. In 2014, visitors – those who travel 50 miles or more – to the UC spent $377.34 million.
“Staycations will be popular as long as families continue to travel for vacations and getaways,” DeRossett said.
The event will be held at the Fairfield Glade Conference Center, 128 Stonehenge Drive. For more information, call (931) 484-8444 or email ashley.derossett@crossville-chamber.com.
