Announcement comes less a week after the clinic announced its closure
According to a Facebook post by Satellite Med (SM) in Cookeville, the fast pace walk-in clinic will reopen Tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 6. The announcement comes less a week after the clinic announced its closure citing struggles through the Pandemic and “even more (struggles) through the recent period of inflation.”

Dear valued patients and community members:
We want to thank everyone who interacted with our recent posts for the outpouring of love and support.
It is with a happy heart to announce that Satellite Med **will remain open**. We have sought the Lord and he has heard our cries. The outpouring of love through emails, posts and texts has been extremely humbling and touching and more so has confirmed in us that God is not finished.
God has brought us help once again in the eleventh hour. We will be making some changes but the care you receive will not change. We apologize in advance for all the confusion and fear our actions have caused. It was never our intent. Dr. Cates is not going to retire, and his midlevel providers are eager to attend to all your health care needs. We need you as much as you need us.
We will reopen walk-in (urgent care) visits beginning Thursday, Feb. 6 2025 and all of our family practice providers will be available to accept new patients.

For clarification, this notice has been sent February 5, 2025. All other notices on social media, on the radio and in publications concerning closure are retracted.

At the time of the original closure announcement SM said, “The cost of health care including supplies, services, technology, utilities and labor has become insurmountable while the insurance companies and other payors have not adjusted with this inflation. We disagree with passing the shortfall to the uninsured and the underinsured.…”
