It was 1986 when Donoho and several outbuildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district
The Donoho Hotel in Red Boiling Springs was engulfed in flames this morning, according to a News Channel 5 report.
The station’s Nick Beres reported that three fire stations responded to the scene.
The Hotel is one of the Upper Cumberland’s oldest and has become a landmark. It is one of three hotels remaining from the early 20th-century “resort boom” at Red Boiling Springs and has remained in operation continuously since its opening under various ownership. It was 1986 when Donoho and several outbuildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district.
Donoho is the last of the great white frame hotels with full-length two-story verandas.
No injuries or deaths have been reported at this time, but the legendary hotel, sadly, looks to be a total loss.
This is an ongoing story. Check back for updates.
