According to a report, the FCC says that 13 FM and one AM station remain off air following the winter weather that crippled portions of the Upper Cumberland.
This is after the FCC activated the Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS), a voluntary, web-based system that allows broadcasters to report to the FCC to let the agency know whether their stations remain on the air, how equipment has withstood the storm, and any issues with power or backup generators, for Winter Storm Fern.
Stations in the Upper Cumberland include:
- Clay County
- Macon County
- Overton County
- Smith County
Along with the 14 radio stations, there is also one television station off the air, and cable and wireline companies have reported 60,039 subscribers are out of service, according to the report, including:
- Telephone
- Television
- Internet services
Many wireless towers are also still offline in Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky.
All station affected are:
- Mississippi: Adams, Alcorn, Amite, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Claiborne, Clarke, Clay, Coahoma, Copiah, Covington, DeSoto, Franklin, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Itawamba, Issaquena, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Kemper, Lafayette, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Leake, Lee, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pike, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Rankin, Scott, Sharkey, Simpson, Smith, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tishomingo, Tippah, Tunica, Union, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Webster, Winston, Yalobusha, and Yazoo
