Officials Say Venue Will Support Events, Economic Growth
(UCBJ) – Putnam County broke ground on the long-awaited Putnam County Expo Center at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24. The groundbreaking marks a milestone in the county’s investment in the new fairgrounds and event facilities.
Envisioned as a year-round venue capable of hosting agricultural events, trade shows, livestock exhibitions, community gatherings, business expos, conventions and other large-scale public events, the Expo Center will serve as the centerpiece of the new fairgrounds.
Designed by Crossville-based Upland Design Group, the facility entered the bidding process earlier this summer following the completion of final project plans. The Expo Center will provide a modern, year-round indoor event space. It will support the annual fair, according to officials, and could attract regional events to generate spending at hotels, restaurants and retailers.
Officials say the Expo Center will also provide a flexible venue for local businesses and organizations
No official completion date has been announced.
