November numbers nationally will be released later this month

In November of 2024 total business applications in the United States were 448,758 with high propensity applications ( an application for a new business that has a high likelihood of becoming an employer with payroll, based on characteristics on the application like being a corporate entity, indicating an intent to hire, or providing a planned wage date) sitting at 157,678.

That was a 5.5% increase in total applications compared to Oct. 2024.

Business applications in the U.S. have reached a record recently, and that trend has continued in 2025, with August data showing over $473,000 in total applications and business formations increasing.

The outlook shows that the trend continued in November. This year’s numbers have yet to be released nationally (those are expected in Dec. 2024), but in Putnam County the number of business applications has decreased to 30.

Check back for those numbers when released.

Last month, 53 businesses registered a license in Putnam County, comprising 34 manufacturing and 19 retail establishments, down slightly from September. However, business formation and expansion are on the rise in the Upper Cumberland and Putnam County.
