Public survey will guide master plan for Cookeville parks, facilities, programs

COOKEVILLE – The city of Cookeville is developing a systemwide recreation master plan, and the public is invited to participate in the planning process through an online survey.

The master plan will act as a guide for the Leisure Services Department in planning for the next 10 years.

“The master plan will provide our department with some direction so that we are better able to develop our parks, programs, facilities, events and staff,” Rick Woods, Cookeville Leisure Services director, said. “Additionally, it will aid us in setting goals and objectives that are based on our overall plan.”

The survey, available throughout March, can be found on the project website.

“Citizen input is crucial to develop a plan that reflects community needs and desires for parks, public spaces, leisure time activities, programs and facilities,” Woods said.

Survey results will be compiled by the city’s master plan consultant, Kimley-Horn, and included in a preliminary plan that will be completed by late spring. A public meeting will be scheduled for citizens to view the plan and make comments before the final version is completed.

“I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete our survey and help give us direction for the next 10 years,” Woods said. “Let your thoughts and ideas be known.”
