⊕ Officials set to celebrate Center Hill Dam milestone

LANCASTER – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District will celebrate a “significant milestone” in the rehabilitation of Center Hill Dam on Monday.

Sen. Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet), Rep. Terri Lynn Weaver (R-Lancaster), Nashville District Commander Lt. Col. John Hudson and Project Manager Linda Adcock will lead a “Barrier Wall Completion Ceremony” at 10 a.m. Monday, May 18. Center Hill Dam was designated as a high risk dam in 2007.

The wall provides a permanent “barrier” to potentially harmful seepage beneath the main dam earthen embankment, Adcock said in a previous release. Completion of this phase of the project significantly increases the safety of the dam. It was the second of three contracts to remediate Center Hill Dam. The third and final contract – for the installation of a concrete berm – will likely be awarded later this year involves. More information will given at the event, officials said
