New name formally aligns clinic with Interstate Health network

Cookeville – As reported in the Upper Cumberland Business Journal, Occupational Health Center (OHC) has rebranded to Interstate Health Cookeville at 315 N. Washington Ave., Suite 190.

Community leaders, including the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, City of Cookeville Mayor Laurin Wheaton and Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter gathered to celebrate the new name and brand this week.

Ribbon Cutting – New identity is a milestone.

According to a release by the company, “the clinic’s new identity is a milestone in its integration with Interstate Health (IH). IH provides urgent care, primary care and occupational health services to commercial drivers, rural communities and businesses, and the traveling public along the nation’s interstates and highways.”

OHC said in a statement the significance of the merger is growing the network. IHC is a 5,300-square-foot clinic.

“They did not join as merely another clinic – this location is serving as a clinical hub for the company,” according to the statement.

OHC founding physician, Dr. Toney Hudson, was named chief medical officer and many of the Cookeville staff have been deployed to “share knowledge and plan and set up the company’s other locations.”

“This is a proud moment for our clinic, which Dr. James Talmage and I opened in 1991. Reintroducing ourselves as Interstate Health Cookeville signals the great opportunity our team must make an even larger impact,” said Dr. Hudson, Interstate Health chief medical officer and OHC founder. “Our local community and the businesses we serve will continue to receive the quality care and personal service they know and trust. And now, our talented team will also serve as a resource and clinical center for a growing network of Interstate Health clinics that are working to serve populations like ours. This name change truly signifies how we are making a difference in health care.”

Interstate Health Cookeville offers primary care and occupational medicine across the Upper Cumberland region.

Other services include:

  • specialized physicals required by the Department of Transportation for commercial truck drivers
  • drug screens and other pre-employment medical care.

“It’s exciting to introduce OHC to the public as Interstate Health Cookeville and deepen our connection to the Upper Cumberland region,” said Jeff Seraphine, Interstate Health Chief Executive Officer. “Dr. Hudson and his talented team have been integral to the growth of Interstate Health and share in our vision of building a health care delivery network that is accessible to commercial drivers, rural communities and the traveling public.”

IH is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for appointments and walk-in services.
