Total U.S. business applications: 497,046
In Putnam County, 38 new business listings were added in January. 18 of those were for manufacturing, and the other 20 were retail establishments.
Nationally, business applications for December showed:
- Total U.S. business applications: 497,046
- High-propensity applications (more likely to become employers): 154,338
- Applications with planned wages: 36,806
- Corporate applications: 62,750
The projected employer business formation from Dec. showed that 30,438 new employer businesses are projected within the 4 quarters (that number is decreased from November).
Key areas of growth are:
- Technology: Cybersecurity, AI and automation tools, and mobile app development are growing sectors.
- E-commerce and Digital Services: Social media platforms and e-commerce are a central part of the small business economy, driving significant revenue.
- Health and Wellness: Personalized health services, telemedicine, and sustainable consumer products are also on the rise.
