Luna-Hazlewood named new WCTE PBS director

COOKEVILLE – WCTE Central Tennessee PBS welcomes Susan Luna-Hazlewood as the new Director of Development and Marketing. The position was previously filled by Avery Hutchins who was appointed Station Manager in January. Luna-Hazlewood, a Cookeville native, has spent the last five years in Nashville where she was the Senior Director of Individual Giving for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

“It’s always exciting to have local talent return to Cookeville,” said Hutchins. “Susan brings a wealth of knowledge to WCTE PBS, and we are excited to have her on the team.”

Luna-Hazlewood has a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Tennessee Tech University and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the College of Charleston in Charleston, S. C. and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). She is a member of the Cookeville Rotary Club, Tri Stars of Tennessee Toastmasters Club, has served as President for the Nashville Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a member of the Planned Giving Council of Middle Tennessee.

“I have spent my career working in the nonprofit field,” said Luna-Hazlewood. “I have worked for organizations that are smaller than and larger than WCTE in terms of scope and budget, in Cookeville and in other cities and states. I think that my fundraising and nonprofit knowledge and experience combined with my Cookeville upbringing gives me a unique approach to this role.”

As Director of Development and Marketing at WCTE PBS, Luna-Hazlewood will oversee the fundraising arm of WCTE including individual giving, major giving, philanthropy and corporate giving, as well as all station fundraising events and marketing. WCTE PBS is in its fifth year of an Education Endowment Campaign.

WCTE Central TN PBS has served the Upper Cumberland for more than 40 years as the region’s premier storyteller and is the only television station in a 75-mile radius of Cookeville.
